For some reason, some dogs are considered the least favorite at the shelter. They’re cute, adorable, and can be regarded as a total package, but sadly, people will not pay attention to them.
One dog from San Diego, California shelter, had been to six families already and had been waiting for his forever home for over a year.
Houdini, a 3-year-old Husky, had been to six families in two years. His stay with each family only lasted for days. At present, he is waiting for that someone who will love him unconditionally until his final breath.
Houdini is at the San Diego County Department of Animal Services shelter in Carlsbad, California, for more than a year.
Houdini isn’t a dog with special needs; he is very much healthy and active.
If you ask what’s wrong with Houdini, the answer is NOTHING!
Kelly Campbell, who works as the Director of the Department of Animal Services in California, said in an interview that Houdini needs a compassionate and patient owner.
Kelly said that Houdini is the canine version of Axl Rose of the rock band Guns N’ Roses. He has high energy, loves to bark and howl, and can be impatient at times. Think of him as the ‘highly concentrated’ dog for his breed.
The Animal Services staff gave him the name Houdini because he has an uncanny way of escaping.
Kelly shares that Houdini is a perfect match for someone very patient. Since he is an active dog, Houdini needs an ample and well-secured backyard space to pour out his energy.
Houdini isn’t a bad dog, after all. He already knows basic commands, and yes, he can still be taught more tricks. The animal shelter even offered free dog training for Houdini’s adopter.
The news about Houdini finding a forever home led him to a Las Vegas headlining magician, Steve Wyrick. Steve got interested in Houdini’s story, and he called the Animal Shelter to know more about the dog when Steve learned that the reason the dog is given such a name, he said that he too, escapes from chains, rotating blades, etc. during his magic acts.
The shelter staff decided to give Houdini to Steve because they know that they’re made for each other.
We’re happy for you, Houdini!
