Four-year-old Jackston Betchard grew up having a lot of pets in the house. His mom, Elise Betchard, loved to rescue dogs and cats. As Jackston grew older, he also started sharing the same love and passion for rescue animals just like his mom.
At present, their family has four rescue dogs and two cats. Out of all their pets, Jackston grew a close bond with Geo, who is the calmest doggo among them all. But he also learned that he really likes Pit Bulls and has become his favorite breed of dogs.
Since Jackston has become an animal lover just like his mom, Elise would always bring him to different animal shelters in their area to give the doggos a visit. Jackston would even call them the Cute Factory. During their visits, the young boy would always play with the dogs and tells them how much he loves them.
Jackston couldn’t believe that some people would give up on having such adorable pets. That’s why he loves to spend time with the animals at the shelter to make them feel happy as they wait to get adopted. He always wishes them good luck in finding their forever families.
One day as Elise and Jackston were driving around, Elise decided to bring her son to the Charleston Animal Society (CAS) for the first time. As the boy was getting all excited about meeting new dogs, Jackston immediately fell in love with a Pit Bull named Penelope.
Jackston wanted to adopt the pooch right away and even named her Spot, because of the spots she had on her head. However, they couldn’t adopt Penelope because Jackston’s dad is a marine and it could be possible that they could move back to base housing where Pit Bulls weren’t allowed.
Seeing how disappointed Jackston was, Elise told him that there was still another way to help the doggo. CAS had a guardian angel program where people could sponsor a pup’s adoption fees. When Jackston heard about this, he got thrilled and told his mom that he had saved up some money at home.
Elise told Jackston that she would be happy to loan him the money that day. Jackston got very excited to tell the staff about this but right before he walked out of the dog room, he saw another Pit Bull named Tank. Jackston begged his mom to adopt this doggo because of how cute and big it was just like him.
Unfortunately, they still couldn’t adopt Tank because of his breed. However, Jackston decided to sponsor Tank’s adoption fees as well so he could get adopted easier. The boy proudly told the staff at CAS that he would become Penelope and Tank’s guardian angel.
One of the staff at CAS took pictures of Jackston with Penelope and Tank and posted them on Facebook. People fell in love with the little boy’s story and the photos went viral. Everyone admired how this four-year-old boy was so generous and passionate about animals.
