Tied to a bench and can’t be able to move, a little pup thought about when his family was going to go back for him. However, as the dog looked cautiously at the mob of strangers flocking around him, he felt something was wrong.
Marcela Goldberg got a message regarding a puppy left on a median lane of the street. Goldberg hurried over together with her fellow rescuer, Azul Galindo. She was never shocked: many dogs had been abandoned in her town ever since the pandemic started.
Goldberg said many neighbors went over and brought the dog food and water because he was just left there chained to the bench without anything. But they couldn’t get any closer because the pup was scared, snipping, and growling.
The dog is a Golden Retriever mix. Next to him was a note with a rock placed on it. The note was pleading for anyone willing to adopt and take care of the cute dog named Max.
The note emphasized why Max’s original owner decided to leave him there, even if it hurts him/her a lot. It’s because his/her family used to abuse Max, and it even hurt him/her more seeing him in that situation. So, it made him/her decide to leave Max there with a note for someone to adopt him. The note also begged those who weren’t willing to adopt him to just leave it there in its place so that others could read it and take him home.
The pup was trembling when Goldberg attempted to approach him. Even the good smell of food didn’t help him relax or distract him. Goldberg said she wore protective gloves so she can approach the dog with extra confidence. But it still seemed to be difficult.
Below is a video of how Goldberg tried to approach the frightened dog on the bench.

So, they tried to get in touch with a trainer who has experience dealing with aggressive dogs. The trainer watched the entire situation through a video call and gave Goldberg instructions until they finally passed the loop over the dog’s head and unchained him.
After cutting the chain, the dog’s behavior suddenly changed. He still looked frightened, but he no longer growled toward his rescuers. Slowly, Goldberg started to pet him inside the car. The moment they arrived at the shelter, the dog calmed down.
The seven-year-old dog has been renamed Boston. Over time, Boston started to learn to trust people and enable his personality to come out.
According to Goldberg, Boston is such a sweet and very affectionate dog. He loves to play with a ball given by the vet, and he also loves to give kisses.
A few days after he was rescued, Boston has totally turned out to be a different dog. Right now, his rescuers have been evaluating adoption applications to ensure Boston would go to a perfect home, the one where he wouldn’t have to worry again.
