Melissa Nixon and her family have a dog named Bentley. Privileged to be with a loving household, Bentley isn’t just like your normal, typical puppy because this little lad does something quite extraordinary.
Bentley is a reliable friend and member of the Nixon clan. Because of this, some responsibilities are being assigned to him. Escorting the Nixon girls to the school bus every morning, and fetching them from the same vehicle late afternoon, are just a few of what Nixon calls dog-guardian duties.
It took the Nixon family three years before they could find a pooch like Bentley. They were after a canine who would get along well with their five children.
From the moment Nixon has seen Bentley, a golden retriever puppy, she already knew that he was the one. Bentley was the perfect pooch to have in their family.
Bentley is a friendly lad. He easily became attached to Nixon’s kids. He has also proven to his fur parents that he can become a responsible guardian to his human siblings.
On days when it’s time for the family’s two youngest daughters to go to school and board the school bus, Bentley would always walk towards the driveway with them. He makes sure that the kids are safe as they climb up and ride the school bus.
At first, Nixon observed that Bentley seems to be a little suspicious of the kids’ school bus. He wasn’t really aware of the fact that the vehicle transports the girls to a place where they can learn new things.
For Bentley to fully give his trust to the big yellow thing he’s seeing, the Nixon girls asked the female bus driver to say hi every time she stops by.
Since then, whenever he sees the yellow school bus waiting for the girls, he already feels safe and at ease for them.
Bentley takes his job as the kids’ guardian seriously. But once he has accomplished his task of sending and fetching the kids to school, the naughty side in him then starts to show.
Nixon admired Bentley’s care for her little ladies. She was able to record a touching video of the canine working as a reliable guardian to her young daughters. The video, later on, ended up going viral on Facebook.
As of this moment, Bentley’s usual duty of escorting the kids to the school bus is temporarily postponed. The COVID-19 pandemic made the kids attend their lessons through online classes.
Bentley thought that this was good news because he can now spend lots of time with the girls. But really, his gestures show that he somewhat misses doing his usual guardian duties. It’s obvious that he misses the yellow school bus as well as the lady driver who says hi to him every day.
