Saint is a homeless senior dog that was living in a homeless encampment in Hawaii. He was extremely emaciated and riddled with so many parasites. He was at a point where no one expected him to make it.
The people caring for him were just giving him end-of-life comforts just so that he doesn’t suffer too much. And when a kind woman name Heather found him, she decided that Saint would have a much more comfortable time staying with her.
Hospice
Heather knew from the very beginning that it was going to be a hospice situation. He was so thin and weak that his defenses couldn’t fight the parasites in his body anymore. But still, it broke her heart to see the poor pup so weak and sad.
Saint refused to eat and he couldn’t even stand up on his own. The pooch spends most of his time in his cage. She had to carry her outside sometimes just so he could get some sun and do his business.
But then, something changed.
Enjoy life
One day, she saw that Saint was trying to walk out of his cage on his own. He wanted to explore the house by himself. Then there was even more progress. The dog tried to go to the living room to join the rest of the family.
It seemed that the dog started to trust them and wanted to enjoy his stay in the house. But he still wasn’t eating a lot.
Then he discovered rotisserie chicken.
Saint loved it and started eating more. So they gave him that regularly. The dog started filling in and became healthier. He also started becoming energetic and playful.
He was showing interest in various family activities, including running on the beach, which became his favorite thing to do. Saint was not merely surviving anymore, he was thriving.
And more importantly, he started showing affection and asking for it as well. He has indeed become a part of the family, and he will stay that way forever.
